The Spalding model 200 Rick Ferrell professional model bat shows heavy use and is un-cracked. Many ball marks and stitch impressions are visible on the barrel. The bat has "side writing" which was applied when a bat was returned to the factory to have modifications or duplicates made. In the case of this bat the name "Oscar Melillo" is written on the bat. Melillo was the St. Louis Browns second baseman in 1933 and teammates with Rick Ferrell. As was common at the time, players would take a bat whose model, weight and length felt good to them and send it to the manufacturer to have their own professional models made. Melillo apparently did this with one of Ferrell's bats in 1933 as the hand written date of "5.15.33" supports. A great Hall of Fame gamer from baseball's golden era. Letter of Authenticity (1B06592) from PSA/DNA.
