You could safely call Earl Averill the greatest hitter in the history of the Cleveland Indians franchise. In a decade of solid stats, Averill still holds the club record for runs batted in, triples, runs scored and total bases. He was chosen for the first five All-Star Games and when Connie Mack put together a team of the best ball players in the game to tour the Far East in 1934, Earl Averill was on it. Lefty Gomez, the Hall of Fame Yankees pitcher, so feared Averill that he said if the Indians slugger had a twin brother there would have been no way he'd have made it to Cooperstown. The Spalding Earl Averill Resilite model bat shows great game use with a professionally repaired cracked handle. The barrel shows many ball marks and stitch impressions along with cleat imprints and abrasions throughout. The original Spalding factory foil printing is still clear and crisp on the center brand and Earl Averill's stamped endorsement is readily visible on the barrel. There has been less than a handful of Averill gamers to have surfaced over the years (only one other being a Spalding model), making his one of the most difficult Hall of Fame bats for collectors to obtain.Letter of Authenticity (1B06591) from PSA/DNA.
