For much of his career, Babe Ruth was involved in off-season barnstorming tours, travelling to small towns and cities to stage exhibition baseball games. After the 1934 season, Babe was invited to play on a US All-Star team that would be barnstorming across Japan and the Far East. By this time, Babe had unknowingly played his last game as a New York Yankee, but even as his career was winding down, he still possessed the extraordinary power that has made him the most revered player in baseball history.
Ruth hit this home run ball on December 2, 1934 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in the Philippines, during the Far East Championship Games. The ball is black and red stitched, and shows heavy use. Ruth has signed the ball, with his signature appearing to have been traced over. Written above the signature, in an unknown hand, is the inscription “Babe Ruth Home Run Ball December 2nd, 1934 Philippines Rizal Memorial Stadium”. The item is accompanied by a MEARS Letter of Authenticity stating the item as Authentic. However, JSA states that due to the apparent tracing of the signature, they will not be issuing an LOA for the signature.
