It took almost 100 years, but in 1980 the Philadelphia Phillies finally won a World Championship. Led by Mike Schmidt’s 48-HR unanimous NL MVP season and Steve Carlton’s 24-Win Cy Young campaign, all that was needed was the spark provided by Pete Rose, and the Cardiac Kids were off and running. The Phils crushed the Houston Astros in five games to win the NL pennant for the first time in 30 years before conquering the Kansas City Royals in six to win it all. This powder blue road jersey from the Majestic Cooperstown Collection is signed by 23 members, both players and coaching staff, of the team that bought Philadelphia its first ever World Series Championship. It starts at the top, with “Dallas Green Mgr” signing above the red “P” logo on the left breast. The remaining 22 signatures are arranged horizontally down the left and right side of the jersey, all signed in black sharpie. Signatures included here are: World Series MVP Mike Schmidt, Pete Rose, Steve Carlton, Bobby Wine, Warren Brusstar, George Vukovich, Lonnie Smith, Greg Gross, Bake McBride, Larry Christenson, Mike Ryan, Kevin Saucier, Garry Maddox, Marty Bystrom, Ozzie Virgil, Lee Elia, Ron Reed, Del Unser, Larry Bowa, Bob Boone, Sparky Lyle and Dickie Noles. Beneath Pete Rose’s autograph is inscribed “1980 W.S. Champs”. Jersey is accompanied by COA #W719566 from JSA.
