October Legends and Americana Ending November 14th

This colorful and visually attractive broadside entitled "DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE and Geographical Chart of the U. States of America" was produced in 1832, most likely for use in a school or office. Topped off by a portrait of George Washington, the center features a typeset reproduction of the Declaration of Independence complete with all the delegate's signatures. The outer edges of the piece feature the vital statistics of the states and territories culled from the 1820 and 1830 census. This incredibly informative piece presents a running tabulation of the growing country along with the document that created it. Credit for the broadside's production is listed on the bottom as "Philadelphia:
Thomas Morrison, Printed by C.A. Elliot, 1832". Measuring 20" x 26 1/2"
this black and white printed broadside has been hand-colored with in bright yellow, red, blue and green tones. This attractive piece is in very good condition with moderate toning and some surface wrinkling and creases. The colors, despite their age, are still strong and vibrant, making this an exemplary display piece. This is a seldom-seen piece and besides an example offered at auction in 2013 for $6-8,000, we have located only a single institutional copy in the Albert H. Small Declaration of Independence Collection at the University of Virginia. Professionally framed to 22" x 29".
