This team enjoyed one of the most successful decades in baseball history. The New York Yankees dominated the 1950's with eight trips to the World Series, which culminated in six World Championships. Offered is an attractive, unofficial "Ted Williams Speed Ball” sphere with twenty-four signatures from the 1957 American League pennant-winning squad neatly placed between its tight red stitches. The clean, off-white ball's surface exhibits a minimum of wear from handling, and the inscription, "1957," has been carefully penned on the reverse sweet spot. Its signatures, rendered in blue ballpoint, include: Berra and Mantle (together on the sweet spot), plus Coleman, Bauer, Howard, Grim, Larsen, Skowron, Cicotte, Kubek, Turley, Sturdivant, Shantz, Johnson, Richardson, Ditmar, Slaughter, Byrne, Kucks and Collins. The ball’s surface also bears the signatures of departing Yankees Ralph Terry, Woodie Held and Norm Siebern (as well as minor league pitcher Jim DePalo), suggesting that the ball was signed at Spring Training in 1957.Comes with JSA LOA.
