No one played the game harder or better than Ty Cobb. In a career lasting two decades, Ty Cobb's relentless drive made him the greatest and most feared hitter of all-time. For nine years in a row he was the American League batting champ and his career batting average of .367 is still the MLB record. He ran the bases with fearless abandon, sliding in spikes high. When the Hall of Fame was created in 1936, Cobb received more votes than any other player. This black and white photo depicts Cobb at the beginning of his career, circa 1907-1911, his steely, determined eyes peering out from beneath a Tigers cap. The Hall of Famer has signed the photo in blue ball point and dated it "12/15/49". The 8 1/2" x 11" black and white photo is printed on thin stock and has a horizontal crease. The edges show tearing and creases, some of which have been secured with tape on the reverse side. None of these condition issues effect the signature which rates a 9/10. Letter of Authenticity (X78848) from JSA.
