On November 19, 1969, the Apollo 12 became only the 2nd manned space flight to land on the moon. Mission Commander Charles ”Pete” Conrad and Lunar Module Pilot Alan L. Bean descended to the surface in the lunar module, while Command Module pilot Richard F. Gordon remained in orbit. The entire flight, from launch to splashdown, lasted just over 10 days, but the Lunar Lander itself spent only 31 hours on the surface of the moon, and Conrad and Bean were outside of the lander on the lunar surface for just 7 hours, 45 minutes and 18 seconds of the entire mission. In that time, they took a number of photographs on the moon, a number of which are included here, in this lot of 10 NASA issued Apollo 12 prints. The prints come enclosed in a manila mailing envelope with a return address of “United States Government Printing Office * Division of Public Documents * Washington, D.C. 20402 * Official Business”. Some photographs show minor water damage on the edges, while some gentle creasing is evident as well. This is a unique way to view earth’s only natural satellite, and a must for the collection of any space enthusiast.
