For nearly 11 seasons, Eddie Giacomin was a New York Ranger fan favorite. Chants of “Eddie, Eddie!” would fill the air at Madison Square Garden when Giacomin would make a great save. So it was particularly upsetting for Eddie when, on October 31, 1975, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings. Even more difficult was having to return to the Garden just 2 days later as the visiting goaltender. This inscribed photograph, capturing the moment Eddie Giacomin returned to Madison Square Garden in a Detroit Red Wings uniform, encapsulates not only the feelings that were on display that day, but also the raw emotion that makes being a sports fan such an indelible part of life. The photo is inscribed by Giacomin detailing the difficulty he faced on that return to MSG, and is signed “Eddie Giacomin “H.O.F. 87” in gold sharpie. This 16X20 B&W photo is handsomely matted and framed, and comes with a COA from Steiner.
