This impressive gathering of artifacts assembled from the 4th game of the 1969 World Series includes a virtual pristine New York Mets Gil Hodges signature model baseball signed by no less than 29 members of this “Amazin’ Mets,” World Championship baseball team accompanied by a full 1969 World Series Game 4 ticket stub and a 1969 World Series program scored from the Game in which the Mets defeated the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 2-1. A young Tom Seaver pitched the winning outing but the game is best remembered for Ron Swoboda’s spectacular diving, one-handed catch of a Brooks Robinson line drive that saved a Baltimore winning run to score in the ninth which allowed the Mets to break a 1-1 tie score in the bottom of the tenth inning to win. Sporting a lineup of veritable no-names, the New York Mets went on to upset the heavily favored Baltimore Orioles to win their first ever World Championship and earn the nickname, “Amazin’ Mets.” Seaver's 25-7 record earned him his first Cy Young Award and Koosman followed a successful rookie campaign with a 17-9 record, making the Seaver-Koosman duo a formidable challenge for the rest of the National League well into the mid 1970's. It would be difficult to find a nicer signed baseball than this special New York Mets labeled baseball with 29 bold blue ballpoint signatures signed around the signature stamp of Manager, Gil Hodges. Signatures from this Cinderella team include Hall of Famers Yogi Berra, Tom Seaver, and Nolan Ryan whose only career World Series appearance was pitching in relief during Game 3 of the 1969 World Series. Other notable signors are Rube Walker, Tug McGraw, Cleon Jones, Gene Mauch and Tommy Agee. This is an exceptional ensemble for even the most advanced Mets collector. Comes with full LOA from JSA.
