Rare red-bordered Autograph Letter Signed “Diana,” 2p, 5.5” x 7”, front & verso on her personal “D” monogrammed Princess of Wales stationery, Kensington Palace, December 21, 1989. With original envelope addressed by Princess Diana to “B. Oldfield Esq. / 27, Beauchamp Place, / London S.W. 3 1NJ.” She affixed a 20p stamp picturing her mother-in-law in the upper right, lightly postmarked. Fine condition.
In full, “Dear Bruce & Anita, It fits perfectly & the ‘gap’ is in the right place too! Thank you both so much for one extremely smart velvet dress – What a fantastic present & far far too generous, let alone sporting for this particular lady! You both are wonderful to have thought of me & for once I’m lost for words! All I can add is an enormous heartfelt thank-you. [drawing of a happy face] & much love from Diana.”
British fashion designer Bruce Oldfield began making couture clothes for Diana in 1981. Anita Richardson was his business partner. Charles, Prince of Wales, and Diana, Princess of Wales, were separated on December 9, 1992, and divorced on August 28, 1996. Comes with letter of authenticity from University Archives.
