Encapsulated and assessed by PSA/DNA, with signatures graded MINT 9. Four of the most visually impressive Beatles signatures known to the collecting industry reside on this vintage autograph album page. A glorious Paul McCartney signature occupies the sheet’s entire top-left aspect. Paul’s unbelievably strong penmanship in this example was rendered carefully, using a broad-tipped instrument, and the result is breathtaking. John Lennon chose the top-right corner for his black ballpoint signature, and it is likewise unparalleled in strength. Finally, the Ringo Starr and George Harrison signatures – placed in broad blue fountain pen strokes and blue ballpoint, respectively, share the bottom-right corner (and occasionally intersect) but their names are presented as crisply and clearly as those of their band-mates. Together, the quartet of autographs comprises a phenomenal array! (Unrelated writing appears on the page’s back side.) A blue ballpoint notation on the page’s lower-left corner reads, “Beatles / Springfield Theatre / August 7, 1963.” These words, placed in an unknown hand, suggest that the “Fab Four’s” scriptings were obtained when the group appeared in concert at that venue on the stated date. As it happened, this would have been a prime opportunity for an enterprising autograph hound to capture the signatures: the Beatles were performing or relaxing at the specified location – actually, the Springfield Ballroom in Jersey, Channel Islands – for four days during the week of August 5-11, 1963.
