Following the enormous success of his 6th solo album, Thriller, Michael Jackson joined his brothers to record a new Jackson’s album. Released by Epic Records on July 2, 1984, Victory was the family’s 17th collaboration, and the first to include all 6 brothers on the same album. The album would prove to be a huge hit, certified 2X Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) just 4 months after its release. The Jacksons supported the album with a spectacular tour of North America, but shortly after the final show Michael quit the group, and the brothers would never perform together again.
This RIAA Certified Gold Record Sales Award was presented to Kathy Wakefield, who c-wrote the 2nd single from the album, “Torture”, with Jackie Jackson. The gold record displays side 1 of the “Victory” LP, along with a golden cassette tape that reads “Gold Sales Award”. A plaque below the LP reads “Presented to Kathy Wakefield to commemorate the sale of more than 500,000 copies of the Epic Records album and cassette “Victory”. Plaque is bordered by the Victory album cover on one side, and the RIAA logo reading “RIAA Certified Sales Award”. Gold record, tape and plaque have a black matte background, mounted in a black frame. Frame shows some dings and scratches on top, bottom, and upper left side.
