In the 1950's the New York teams boasted the three premier center fielders in the game - Willie, Mickey and The Duke. What better way for a fan to show their favorite than to wear a pin back button and charm with their heroes likeness on it? These novelty charms were sold at the ball park and five and dimes in the mid-1950's. While many lost their ribbons and attached charms over the years, these three pieces are as close to complete as they were when they were bought. The lot includes two Duke Snider's and one Mickey Mantle charm. The first depicts The Duke in a follow through swing with the lower deck of Ebbets Field visible in the background. The pin has a red, white and blue ribbon attached along with a baseball and pitcher figurine. The ball and figure show a bit of yellow toning from age and the ribbon is slightly frayed on the bottom edge. the second Snider charm has a portrait of The Duke with a red, white and blue ribbon attached along with gold-colored baseball and glove charms suspended from a gold-colored chain. The Mickey Mantle pin back has The Mick waiting for a pitch against a teal green background. A Yankee navy blue and white ribbon is attached along with a white plastic baseball and red plastic bat suspended from a metal chain. The pin back is in good condition and the ribbon is slightly frayed on the edges. The chain shows some tarnishing and the plastic has a small crack.
