The most polarizing collection of ballplayers to ever pull on the team sweater, the 1986 New York Mets steamrolled to the NL Pennant before outlasting (in the most inconceivable manner) the Boston Red Sox to win the 1986 World Series. It was Jesse Orosco who was on the mound to record the final out of Game 7, securing the improbably World Series Championship for the Amazin’s. This jersey was game worn by Orosco during that memorable season of 1986, during which he won 8 games and saved 21 while compiling a meager 2.33 ERA in 81 IP. This gray pullover road jersey has “METS” scripted across the chest, with the number “47” on the front and back in blue-on-orange tackle twill. The back of the jersey features a nameplate reading “OROSCO” in matching style. Each sleeve and both sides are trimmed in two orange stripes sandwiched around a slightly larger blue stripe, and the left sleeve contains the Mets 1962-1986 25th Anniversary patch. This was the final season the Mets wore their nickname on road grays, switching to “New York” in 1987. The front left tail has the “W.A. Goodman & Sons” size “44” manufacturer’s tag. Orosco has signed his “Jesse Orosco 47” on the front of the jersey, below the team name and next to his number, in blue sharpie. Jersey is tagged with a PSA/DNA hologram Z94779, and comes with a COA from PSA/DNA, as well as an LOA from noted game use expert Dave Miedema.
