Offered is Charlie Conerly’s NFL contract for the 1956 NFL season. Conerly, the quarterback of the New York Giants, signed the 1-year contract for $16,000 on January 6 of that year, then went out and led the Giants to the 1956 NFL Championship. The franchise would not win another title until their victory in Super Bowl XXI in 1986. Included on this, Conerly’s personal copy of his contract, are the signatures of Charles Conerly and Giants owner Wellington T. Mara, as well as witnesses Ella Grant and Raymond J. Walsh. The contract was approved 1 week later, on January 13, and signed by NFL Commissioner Bert Bell. The back of the contract includes club rules and regulations, as well as a bonus clause, initialed by both Conerly and Mara. This unique piece of NY Giants history is accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA.
