The 1949 edition of the New York Yankees defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers for their 12th World Series title. More impressively, the ’49 Championship would be the 1st of a record 5 consecutive world titles for the Bronx Bombers. This baseball is team signed by 22 members of that 1949 squad, including Hall of Famers Phil Rizzuto, Yogi Berra and Joe DiMaggio, who has signed the sweet spot in black ink. Other signatures present here include Johnny Mize, Vic Raschi and Ralph Houk, to name a few. “1949” has been inscribed in faded black ink just above Joltin’ Joe’s name in an unknown hand. Any official markings on this ball have faded away, and many of the signatures have partially suffered the same fate. The ball is accompanied by an LOA from JSA.
