As a tribute to his natural leadership and maturity, at age 25 Lou Boudreau was made player/manager of the Cleveland Indians. Ten years later he was with the Boston Red Sox where he wrapped up his playing days and assumed the full-time role of skipper. Boudreau managed in the big leagues up through 1960 and was voted to the Hall of Fame in 1970. His grey flannel jersey from the '52 season has "BOSTON" arched across the front in navy felt. All buttons are present and appear to be original. The McAuliffe label is sewn in the lower left front tail with size "44" tagging affixed. "1952 44 3in 4" is chain stitched in red thread below. The back of the jersey has Boudreau's number "4" in navy felt. The jersey shows light game use, consistent with Boudreau's role as player/manager in 1952. Letter of Authenticity (314559) from uniform experts MEARS who have given this Hall of Fame jersey a perfect grade of A-10.
