1998 was a historic season for Bernie Williams and the Yankees. Bernie hit .339 to win the American League Batting Title and helped lead the Yankees to a World Series Championship. In an era where players often move from team to team, Bernie Williams played his entire 16-year career with the New York Yankees and was a member of four World Series championship teams with the pinstripes. Williams was a five-time All-Star, won four Gold Glove Awards, an American League batting title, a Silver Slugger Award and an ALCS Most Valuable Player Award. A Bronx and MLB favorite, Williams’ number 51 was retired by the Yankees in May 2015.
This Rawlings helmet is a size 7 with the interior date dial indicating it was manufacturer in 1998. It is uncracked and displays evidence of moderate game use. Blue rack paint can be seen on the top of the helmet and the interior padding features a foam padded headband foam pads for the top and back of the head as well as the earflaps. The front of the helmet features the interlocking ‘NY” as well as Williams’ number ‘51’ on the bill. Williams’ number ‘51’ as well as a red, white and blue MLB logo are on the back of the helmet. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
