At the time Roger Maris was wielding this bat, he was trying to get out from under the attention showered on him four years before when he surpassed Ruth’s record and concentrate on playing ball. The slugger left New York after 1966 and became a key component of the Cardinals 1967 World Championship team. The Hillerich & Bradsby d145 model bat is un-cracked and shows light use. A few ball marks with stitch impressions can be seen and there are cleat marks on the back barrel. The model number "D145" is stamped into the knob and the weight "36 1/4" is written on the knob in red ink. Maris' famous number "9" is hand written in black ink on both the barrel and knob ends. Letter of Authenticity (1B06214) from PSA/DNA.
