The 2009 World Series pitted the NL Champion Philadelphia Phillies against the AL and defending World Series Champion New York Yankees. The Phillies took game one of the series 6-1 behind Cliff Lee’s strong performance and two home runs by Chase Utley. The Yankees rebounded by winning games 2, 3 and 4 to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. In game five, Lee took the hill again for the Phillies and ironically won again with Utley hitting two more home runs in the game. In game 6, the Yankees closed things out with a 7-3 win en route to their 27th World Series championship. This official Rawlings MLB baseball was used in game five of the 2009 World Series. The sweet spot is labeled with ‘Official Ball – 2009 World Series’ in gold with Bud Selig as Commissioner. The side panel also sports the gold 2009 World Series logo. On the same side panel, right below the 2009 World Series logo, the ball has been signed by Yankee legend Derek Jeter. Steiner and MLB Authentication (LH773028).
