Ever versatile, Ivan Rodriguez set an MLB record in 2009 by catching his 2,227th game, passing Carlton Fisk on the all-time list. Rodriguez is widely regarded as one of the best defensive catchers of all time and had the best caught-stealing percentage of any major league catcher.
Offered here is the armor worn by Rodriguez behind the plate in 2007. The first part of the ensemble is the black Wilson catcher’s mask that has been signed ‘game used’ on the bottom left padding. Next is the black Wilson chest protector with Rodriguez’s nickname ‘Pudge’ stitched in the neck area. Rodriguez has also signed the chest protector and added his number ‘7’ near the Wilson branding. Completing the ensemble are the two Wilson shin guards that are both signed and inscribed ‘game used’ by Rodriguez.
