This great Reggie Jackson gamer dates to the famous "Mustache Era". In between the 71-72 seasons the A's star cultivated a dapper mustache. When he reported to spring training he was instructed to shave it off but refused. A's owner Charlie Finley liked the 'stache so much he offered $300 to any other player who grew one! The Hillerich & Bradsby J93 model bat shows outstanding use with a professionally repaired handle crack. There is some checking from repeated ball contact and many stitch impressions and ball marks can be seen on the barrel. There is a light coat of pine tar on the handle and the model number "J93" is stamped into the knob end. Jackson's number "9" and "JAX" is hand written on the knob in black marker. The Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in blue marker making this an incredible early Reggie Jackson gamer. Letter of Authenticity (1B03877) from PSA/DNA who have graded this bat a GU 8.5.
