It was inevitable that the Yankees would ultimately acquire the best southpaw in the game, and in 2005 Randy Johnson suited up in the pinstripes. The Big Unit played the '05-'06 season with New York and wore this uniform on April 13, 2006. The future Hall of Famer soundly defeated the Kansas City Royals 9-3. Johnson threw five innings, striking out five and giving up a run on four hits for his second win of the year. Johnson's home Yankee pinstripes has the classic intertwined "NY" in navy tackle twill on the left chest. The Majestic label is sewn in the lower left front tail along with size "52", "2006" and "+4" body" tagging. The back features the Big Unit's number "41" in navy tackle twill. The jersey shows light game use and is in magnificent shape. The matching pinstripe pants have the Majestic label in the waist band along with "41 Johnson 36-41 40 OB 06" stitched on a white strip tag. The pants have two rear pockets with original buttons intact and overall displays light game use with no tears. The timeless Yankees cap is a New Era 7 3/8 featuring Johnson's number "41" hand written in black marker on the underside of the brim. The cap shows good game use with very light turf marks on the outside and the expected moisture stains on the cloth headband and pine tar finger marks on the brim. Steiner hologram is affixed to the underside of the brim. The lot comes with a copy of Getty Images photo-match. Letter of Authenticity from Yankee Steiner Collectibles and MLB (BB077657).
