Miguel Cabrera suffered through an off-year in 2014 – by his standards, anyway. Following 3 consecutive American League batting titles in 2011, 2012 & 2013, Miggy only hit .313 with 25 home runs and 109 RBI in 2014, while leading the league with a career high 52 doubles. This Detroit Tigers home jersey was worn by Miguel Cabrera on June 15, 2014 at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI, a 4-3 Tigers victory over the visiting Minnesota Twins. In the game, a Sunday afternoon Father’s Day affair, Cabrera went 1 for 4 with a walk. He did come to the plate with the score tied and a runner on first in the bottom of the 9th, but in a startling reversal to his usual good fortune with runners on base, Cabrera lined out for the first out of the inning. The Tigers would win 2 batters later when J.D. Martinez scored Torii Hunter on a game winning sacrifice fly. The jersey is white, button-down, with navy blue piping around the neck and down the front of the jersey, framing the buttons. The iconic Detroit Tigers “D” logo is featured on the front left breast in navy blue tackle twill, while the back reads “CABRERA” & “24” in matching style. In what has become a Father’s Day tradition, above the “D” logo is a powder blue Prostate Cancer ribbon centered by the MLB logo. A second MLB logo is stitched on the back collar, the left sleeve has a stitched Majestic logo, and the Majestic manufacturer’s tag is situated on the front left tail, above a strip tag reading “24 46 ’14 466”. “JSG” has been written on the Majestic label in black marker, penned by Tigers clubhouse manager Jim Schmakel verifying the item was indeed worn by Cabrera. The jersey shows mild game usage, and is tagged with MLB Hologram #HZ177339. Oh, and Cabrera is back to his old tricks, winning the AL batting title for the 4th time in 2015.
