During the 1975-76 NCAA Basketball season, the Pepperdine Waves compiled a 22-6 record, including 10-2 in the West Coast Athletic Conference, good enough for a WCAC Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Following a victory over Memphis in the 1st round, the Waves came up against a UCLA juggernaut that had won 10 of the previous 12 Tournaments, falling to the Bruins 70-61 in the West Regional Semi-Final. Basketball Hall of Famer Dennis Johnson was a member of that Pepperdine team, and this platinum ring was awarded to Johnson to commemorate that fantastic season. The face of the ring features the Pepperdine “P” set within a large blue stone, with “WCAC Conference Champions” in raised lettering around the perimeter. The left shank reads “Pepperdine University 22-6”, while the opposite shank reads “WCAC Champions 1976”. The inner band is engraved with Johnson’s name, along with the word “platinum.” Ring is size 10 and weighs in at 19.0 grams. This item comes with a LOA from his wife, Donna Johnson.
