Notre Dame Football is synonymous with winning. With 12 National Championships it is one of the most storied and successful programs in the nation. Some of the greatest and most famous players to ever play the game did so at Notre Dame. This official Riddell Gold helmet is signed by Notre Dame Greats including: Joe Montana, Joe Theismann, Johnny Lattner, and Paul Hornung. After winning a national championship at Notre Dame, Montana started his NFL career in 1979 with the San Francisco 49ers, where he played for the next 14 seasons. While a member of the 49ers, Montana started in four Super Bowl games and won all of them. Montana was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000, his first year of eligibility. Theismann achieved his most enduring fame in his 12 seasons playing for the Washington Redskins, where he was a two-time Pro Bowler and quarterback of the winning team in Super Bowl XVII. He was inducted into the College Hall of Fame in 2003. Lattner was a halfback for the University of Notre Dame where he won the Heisman Trophy in 1953. Hornug, in a loss to USC ran and threw for 354 yards, the best in the nation in 1955. Hornung, nicknamed the "Golden Boy," won the Heisman Trophy in 1956.
