The New York Giants were facing another dire fourth quarter drive while losing to the New England Patriots. With 3:45 left in the game and only one time out remaining, the Giants had a first and 10 at their own 12-yard-line when Eli Manning again dodged a would be sack and hurtled the ball down the field where it landed in the hands of Giants receiver Mario Manningham, who hauled in the 38 yard pass before being pushed out of bounds. This catch led the Giants to the go ahead touchdown and a 21-17 victory.

This is the exact helmet and gloves worn by Manningham that game and on this catch! The helmet is a Schutt blue helmet with his number “82” split on each side of the red stripe on both the front and back. The Super Bowl logo is placed on the left of the “8” with the NFL logo adjacent. The American Flag is on the right hand side of the red stripe with the white “NY” adorning both sides. Inside the helmet is the size “L” sticker with Manningham’s number “82” on another sticker. The usual warnings labels are omnipresent. Several scrapes are evident on the outer shell, and the inside and chinstrap has light staining from game use. The shell features a bold Silver Sharpie “Mario Manningham #82 Game Used Super Bowl Helmet 5 rec. 73 yards “the Catch”. The red mouthpiece appears to be exactly the same as the many videos we have viewed of the great sideline catch. The black and red NIKE gloves match perfectly the still images of the catch, and each has been signed “Mario Manningham #82 SB Gloves The Catch.” Manningham finished that Super Bowl game with five catches for 73 yards, but none bigger than that miraculous 38 first down catch which put the Giants in the direction for the win, and Manningham in the heart and souls of New York Giant fans everywhere. These items come with an LOA from Mario Manningham and three COA’s (PSA/DNA) for the signatures.
