In 1948 the Leaf Gum Company tried their hand at making cards and they came out swinging with what would become one of the hobby's most sought after sets. It probably was no accident that the first card in the set depicted Joe DiMaggio, at that time one the most prominent players. Joltin' Joe would go on to lead the American League in home runs and runs batted in that year. This card appears to be free of creases and has outstanding print quality for the issue. Remarkably, DiMaggio was under-represented on cards during his playing days, his 1948 Leaf card is one of his great ones.
