For the fourth time in his career, Steve Carlton led the National League in wins with a hearty 23 victories. He also started a league leading 38 games and gave the Phillies bullpen a good rest by finishing 19 of them, another league best. No doubt those 23 wins were helped along by his 286 strikeouts – by the way another NL best that year. You’d be right to guess that 1982 ended with another Cy Young Award or Carlton, the fourth of his career.
This Adirondack/Rawlings 381B model bat shows moderate use with a cracked handle secured by tape. Several ball marks with stitch impressions can be seen along with red bat rack paint streaks. The model number “381B” has been stamped into the knob and player number “25” is hand written in faded marker. Note that Carlton’s number in 1982 was “32” so this bat may have been used by another player after it was delivered to Carlton. The Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in blue marker, making this a truly great gamer from one of his best seasons. This bat comes with a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA (1B10081) and a COA from PSA/DNA (AB41508).
