Jorge Posada spent the 1999 season splitting the catching duties with Joe Girardi, gradually becoming the team’s regular behind the plate. Though he hit just .245, Posada proved to the Yankees that he had what it takes to take Girardi’s place for the 2000 season. This is one of the bats Posada used during that career-making season. The Louisville Slugger model M356 shows good game use with ball marks, stitch impressions, white leather scuffs and blue ink transfers. Cleat marks are visible on the barrel and the handle has been taped for a better grip in Posada’s unique criss-crossed pattern. The bat has a handle crack and exhibits some grain swelling from repeated ball contact. Posada’s number “20” is hand written in black marker on both the knob and barrel end. The bat has been signed “Jorge Posada 20” in black marker on the barrel. Letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA for autograph. PSA GU 8.5 letter and grade for bat. Please note the wrong photo was shown in catalog. Correct photo is shown here.
