Framed typed letter written on White House stationery and signed by the 33rd president of the United States, Harry S. Truman. The letter was written to Mr and Mrs Leonard Lyons of New York and references his final address to the American people. The letter was penned and dated January 17, 1953, just 3 days before leaving office. Also present is the corresponding envelope from the White House. Truman succeeded Franklin D Roosevelt towards the waning years of WWII. Truman was credited with deciding to use the atomic bomb on Japan to end the war, creating the United Nations and the writing the "Truman Doctrine" to contain communism. The frame shows some minor wear, but overall is in good condition. Nice piece of history from one of our most important presidents. A full JSA Letter of Authenticity accompanies this item.
