Offered is a framed display containing a J. Honus Wagner signed bank check and black and white photo. The check, drawn against his personal account at the Carnegie National Bank, in the amount of $7.50 for 5 baseball tickets, was written to the Pittsburgh Athletics ball club on June 3, 1927. The check, written in Wagner's own hand in black fountain pen, features a strong full signature. "The Flying Dutchman" spent his entire 51 year baseball career, as a player, coach and manager, with the Pirates. Considered the one of the greatest right hand hitters ever, Wagner won 8 batting titles, and compiled 3415 hits and a .327 batting average during his 20 year playing career. In 1936, the baseball Hall of Fame inducted Wagner as one of its first 5 inductees. Wagner received the second-highest vote total, behind Ty Cobb and tied with Babe Ruth. The frame shows some minor wear. A full JSA Letter of Authenticity accompanies this item.
