Satchel Paige is one of the greatest “What-If” stories in baseball history. While Jackie Robinson may have broken the color barrier to Major League Baseball in 1947, it is hard to imagine the kind of impact Paige would have had in his prime. One of the most well-known and beloved players in the Negro Leagues, Paige pitched professionally for 22 years before Robinson opened to door to the Major Leagues.
In 1948, Paige became the oldest rookie in MLB history when he pitched for the Cleveland Indians at the age of 42. While his career in the Major Leagues did not last long, he continued pitching for the better part of four decades before retiring in 1966.
This unstamped baseball features the signature of Satchel Paige on the sweet spot in black pen. The cream-colored baseball has a rubbed look, dirt staining, and the signature is crisp and clear. This baseball comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AA05772).
