All-time hits leader Pete Rose joined the prestigious 3,000 Hit Club on May 5, 1978 when he singled of Montreal Expos pitcher Steve Rogers, becoming the 13th and youngest player at that time to accomplish this feat. Rose would also go on to hit in 44 straight games in coming the closest to Joe DiMaggio’s seemingly untouchable consecutive hit-game streak.

Offered is this Official National League Charles S. Feeney baseball used during the May 5, 1978 game at Riverfront Stadium where the Expos defeated the Reds 4-3. This ball shows outstanding game use with a large black abrasion mark across the sweet spot. Rose signed his name in black ink on the side panel, which is slightly faded but still readable and inscribed “5-5-78”. This game used and signed baseball comes with a COA from the Cincinnati Reds authenticating the ball’s use during the May 5, 1978 game and a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AA07800) for Rose’s signature and inscription.
