Before Jim Edmonds made his Major League debut for the California Angels, the young outfielder was making his way up the ranks in the minor leagues for the Angels’ affiliates Edmonton and Vancouver in the Pacific Coast League.

In 1992, as a promising prospect, Edmonds played for the Angels in Spring Training and wore this size 48 Rawlings pullover gray Angels jersey. This jersey features “ANGELS” across the chest in red and navy blue tackle twill. “EDMONDS” is sewn in red and navy blue on a matching gray nameplate on the back with the number “48” sewn on just below. The collar and sleeve ends have a navy blue/red/navy blue ribbed material, and a circular Angels logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve. The Rawlings logo is embroidered in navy blue on the right sleeve end, and on the red part of the sleeve end. The Rawlings size 48 tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail.

This jersey was originally issued to pitcher Mike Fetters, who wore number 48 in 1991. The jersey was recycled to Jim Edmonds with the change of the name on the back- as was common with teams in the early 1990s.

Edmonds did not play in the regular season for the Angels in 1992, and most likely wore this jersey during spring training in 1992. Edmonds was issued the number “25” during his 18-game first season in 1993. The number “48” was not issued in 1992 until September when Hilly Hathaway was called up from the minors and those jerseys would have been manufactured by Russell Athletic. Edmonds signed this jersey in silver marker on the back “4” of the “48”. This jersey comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AA07620) for his signature and a full LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
