The 1916 World Series featured a matchup of the Boston Red Sox and Brooklyn Robins (Dodgers). Like they did in 1915, the defending champion Red Sox played their World Series home games at Braves Field, which was larger than Fenway Park to accommodate the larger crowds. Offered here is a vintage photograph prior to the start of Game 1 on October 7, 1916. This 4 x 6 inch photograph shows the rules being discussed by the umpires and the managers of both teams. On the right of the picture is a man holding what looks like a giant megaphone. The top of the photo has in white “DISCUSSING RULES, BOSTON 10/7/16” and “4012-10”. The back of this photo has stamping that includes “Culver Pictures, Inc” out of New York. This is a unique historical photograph from one of the earliest World Series matchups.
