1929 and 1930 were tremendous years for Babe Ruth. Although the Yankees didn't win the pennant, the Babe continued to display why he was simply the best player in the game. '29 and '30 were the fourth and fifth of six consecutive seasons the Babe would lead the league in both home runs and slugging.
The Babe has signed the sweet spot of this Reach Official American League ball in black fountain pen. The signature has faded a bit with age but is still very legible. A signature that was originally below Ruth’s has been removed. The other signatures visible on the ball include Hall of Famers Bill Dickey and Lou Gehrig. Also on the ball is Sammy Byrd, known as “Ruth’s Legs” because he was often put in to pinch run or sub for the Babe in right field. The other 25 names have partially faded with time. The ball looks to have a very light coat of shellack on its surface and this has flaked off in a few small places. PSA/DNA has determined that it appears the south panel has been lightly cleaned and someone has written “Lou Gehrig” on the west panel and that a signature was removed below the Ruth signature on the sweet spot. This baseball comes with a full LOA for the Ruth signature from PSA/DNA (U01474).
