Offered here is a signed promotional portrait of the 1967 Philadelphia 76ers for Schmidt’s Beer accompanied by a letter from Hall of Fame coach Alex Hannum. The portrait is signed in blue ink by 11 members of the 76ers, including Hall of Fame inductees Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, Hal Greer, and Chet Walker. Hannum’s autograph appears on both the personal letter and the team portrait. The other signatures belong to Dave Gambee, Luke Jackson, Wally Jones, Bill Melchionni, Matt Guokas, and Larry Costello. The 1967 season saw the 76ers finish with the best record in the NBA, at 62-20, but fell to the Boston Celtics 4-3 in the Eastern Conference Finals. The 1967 season also proved to be the last season in Philadelphia for Coach Alex Hannum and star center Wilt Chamberlain, making this piece a particularly cherished memento of Philadelphia history. The letter from Coach Hannum, addressed to a “Mrs. Belz” is typed in blue ink on official 76ers stationary and dated May 4th, 1967. The multi-signed photograph comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AB13023) and the signed letter comes with a COA from PSA/DNA (AB73316).
