Former New York Yankees’ Captain Derek Jeter passed icon Mickey Mantle on June 4, 2008 on the iconic club’s hit list and only trailed Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig at that time. Already playing in their final season at the old Yankee Stadium, Jeter’s milestone hit came off of Toronto Blue Jays’ pitcher Jesse Litsch in the bottom of the third inning as the Yankees defeated the Blue Jays 5-1. Offered is one of the baseballs used during this historic game. This Official Major League Allan H. Selig has a commemorative “YANKEE STADIUM 1923-2008” stamp on the side panel where Jeter signed his name in blue pen and inscribed “2416 Hits passing Mantle”. This ball shows excellent game use and comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (BB 884474). The baseball has been mounted on a 6 x 9 inch acrylic holder with “DEREK JETER Breaks Mickey Mantle’s Yankee Hit Record June 4, 2008 Game Used Baseball” etched in white. The acrylic holder is mounted on a 6 ½ x 11 ½ inch black base and presents beautifully.
