Presented here is a print by famed sports artist LeRoy Neiman, dedicated to the legendary Sandy Koufax. Known as one of the best left handed pitchers in MLB history, Koufax was a seven- time all-star pitcher, a four-time World Champion and a CY Young winner three times. This piece commemorates Koufax’s performance in game one of the 1963 World Series, between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankee, striking out legendary Mickey Mantle. The Dodgers would go on to sweep the Yankees in the World Series 4-0.
This print has been signed by Sandy Koufax in black ink across the field, while artist Neiman, has signed and dated in black ink on the lower left corner. Inscribed in this piece in black is “Sandy Koufax Striking out Mickey Mantle 1st Game 1963 World Series Koufax fans 15”. Koufax’s accolades are centered at the bottom. This piece stands 22 x 26 inches, and is matted and framed and included is a COA from JSA (Q28343).
