Presented here is the first issue of Sports Illustrated magazine. This magazine which is definitively the most well known and commercially successful sports magazine has over 3 million subscribers and is read by millions each week. This magazine launched on August 16, 1954 and this first cover features Eddie Mathews of the Milwaukee Braves and New York Giants catcher Wes Westrum. This magazine comes matted and framed stranding 20 x 15 inches. The magazine shows signs of wear on the edges and corners, but is in overall good condition. A cut at the bottom displays the date of the issue.
