The 1939 Cincinnati Reds rode the pitching of Paul Derringer and Bucky Walters to the National League pennant with a 97-57 record. The Reds finished 4 ½ games ahead of the second place St. Louis Cardinals. This Official Ford C. Frick National League baseball has been signed by 24 members of that pennant winning team, with signatures including Frank McCormick, Hall of Famer and manager Bill McKechnie and Johnny Vander Meer on the sweet spot. On one of the panels are the signatures of Johnny Niggeling, Henry Johnson, Ival Goodman, Hall of Famer Ernie Lombardi, Lew Riggs, and Dick West. The opposite panel has the signatures of Willard Hershberger, Whitey Moore, Wally Berger, Gene Thompson, Eddie Joost, and Bucky Walters. The remaining two panels having the signatures of Harry Craft, Bill Myers, Nino Bongiovanni (signed Nino “Bongy”), Lee Gamble, Lonny Frey, Jimmie Wilson and Paul Derringer, along with Frenchy Bordagaray and Bill Werber on the panel with the Spalding stamp. This ball displays toning, but the stampings are still clear and the signatures are in good condition. This baseball comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AB11871).
