Thus began and ended the New York Yankees late-1930s dynasty of four straight championships. Notably, Lou Gehrig appears in both photos, the latter coming just before his untimely retirement due to ALS. Includes:
1936 Real-Photo Postcard by George Burke - High-quality, high-sheen 4 x 6 inch photo with Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio in the second row. Apparent GD/VG condition due to corner creasing, with the players themselves little affected by surrounding wear. Framed to 12 x 10 inches (with handling wear on frame).
1939 Oversized 13 x 20 inch Photo - A weakened Gehrig, rightfully smack-dab in the center, plus Joe D at upper left, with all players sporting the 1939 Baseball Centennial patches. Captioned "Meet the Champions / 1939 New York Yankees" with an Empire Photographers stamping on reverse. GD condition with reinforced edge tear at center right.
