Nearly two years before Abraham Lincoln would take office as the 16th President of the United States, he signed this check dated February 16th, 1859. This offered item is an extremely rare Abraham Lincoln signed check that was filled out in Lincoln's hand to Johnson + Bradford in the amount of $72.10. The check measures 7 ½ x 2 ¾ inches and was drawn on the Springfield Marine & Fire Insurance Company. The overall condition is excellent with a few minor contemporary ink smudges, extremely light soiling. Lincoln signed his name on the bottom right corner in black ink and signed it “A. Lincoln”. The blue print is slightly faded but still displays nicely. The back of the check does not have any writing or printing. This signed check has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (83390334) and been graded MINT 9.
