Hall of Fame closer Bruce Sutter was coming off an impressive 1982 campaign where he led the National League in saves with 36 and helped lead the St. Louis Cardinals to the World Series title.

      Sutter wore this full St. Louis Cardinals home white uniform set during the 1983 season. The size 44 Rawlings pullover jersey features “Cardinals” that is sewn across the chest in red and navy blue cursive script in smooth chenille with a golden bat and two perched Cardinals on each end. Sutter’s number “42” is sewn on the front left center chest in red and navy blue tackle twill. Sutter signed his name in black marker below his number on the front of the jersey and inscribed “H.O.F. 2006”. “SUTTER” and his number “42” are sewn on directly to the back of the jersey in red and navy blue tackle twill. The v-neck collar and sleeve ends are capped with a ribbed red white and blue material. The red Rawlings tag is sewn on the inside front right tail, along with the “SET 1 1983” flag. The jersey shows moderate wear and displays minor discoloration.

      The matching white game pants were also manufactured by Rawlings and have a waist size of 34. The pants show heavy game use with numerous stains throughout. The expandable waistband has a blue, white and red pattern with the vertical stripes in the same colors down each side. Sutter signed his name on the white stripe on the front waist in blue marker. The white team tag is sewn on the inner back waist band and reads in red “Sutter 34 27 83 1” and has a “SET 1 1983” flag attached. Sutter’s signatures come with full LOAs from PSA/DNA (AC04026 & AC04040) and both the jersey and pants come with individual LOAs from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
