Former big league pitcher John Rocker split his time between the Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians during the 2001 season. After Rocker was traded by Atlanta to Cleveland, the lefty appeared in 38 games for the Tribe to close out the season.
Offered is this navy blue size 48 Russell Athletic Cleveland Indians button-down jersey Rocker wore during the 2001 season. “INDIANS” is sewn on across the chest in red, navy blue and white tackle twill with a paraph across the chest. “ROCKER” is sewn on in red and white tackle twill on a matching navy blue name plate above his number “49, which is also sewn on in red and white on the back of the jersey. An American Flag patch outlined in yellow has been added to cover the MLB logo patch on the upper back neck, indicating this jersey was worn before and after the 9/11 attacks. White piping appears are around each sleeve and run along the collar and down both sides of the buttons. The left sleeve has the Chief Wahoo logo patch above the white embroidered Russell Athletic logo and the number “5” embroidered in white in memory of Hall of Famer Lou Boudreau, who passed away in 2001. The right sleeve has the American League 100th Anniversary patch worn by all American League teams in 2001. The Russell Athletic tag, along with the size (48), (+1” SLEEVE LENGTH) and (+1” SLEEVE END) flags and the “2001” tag are sewn on the bottom front left tail. This jersey comes with a full LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
Also included in this lot is an 8 x 10 color photograph of John Rocker on the mound with the Indians. Rocker signed this photograph in silver marker and inscribed “49”. This photograph comes with a COA from PSA/DNA (AB73617).
