      Al Barlick was a Major League umpire in the National League for 28 seasons and was widely respected around baseball for being one of the top umpires. Known for his booming voice on strike calls, Barlick umpired seven World Series’ and seven All-Star Games and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1989.

      Offered in this lot is a one-page National League contract in the amount of “$5,500.00” “per season for the championship season of 19 46 , which includes all hotel and miscellaneous expenses, and in addition thereto will reimburse him for railroad transportation and sleeping car accommodations while traveling for the League." The contract was drawn up to “ALBERT J. BARLICK” of “2156 So. 18th Street” “SPRINGFIELD, ILL.”. This 8 ½ x 14 inch document has been signed in blue pen by Ford C. Frick, the National League President in 1946 and by Barlick himself in blue pen. This contract has been folded three times to fit an envelope and displays toning. The type is still clear and only minor edge wear is appears. This historic contract comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (Y04515).
