Holiday Auction Closing December 3

Presented here is a lock of hair of President Andrew Jackson that has been encapsulated and mounted on a board with a few prints of Jackson. Jackson served as the seventh president of the United States, and arguably the founder of the Democratic Party. Jackson was also a general in the war of 1812 defeating the British in the Battle of New Orleans. Along with his presidency, Jackson brought about the age of “Jacksonian Democracy” an age for the common man, expanding voting rights, patronage, laissezz-faire Economics, manifest destiny, and ultimately ending the Second National Bank of the United States. Jackson saw himself as a champion of the common man, and felt that it was his duty to help out the common folk. This board includes a portrait of Andrew Jackson on the left, with a painting of him meeting a Native American on the upper right. Under the upper right picture is a lock of Jackson’s hair encased in a gel – like square. A cut with a small biography is also included on the lower right of the board. This board is matted in crimson red, and is unframed, standing 16 x20 inches. This comes with a COA from University Archives.
