Thurman Munson was the epitome of a “gamer” and was the catalyst for the great late 1970s New York Yankees teams that won back-to-back World Series championships in 1977 and 1978. Sadly, Munson was killed while landing his Cessna at the Akron-Canton Airport in 1979. Offered in this lot is a black and white photograph of The Captain with his soft Yankees cap, home pinstripe jersey and catcher’s glove up to his chin looking off at an angle. This 8 x 10 photograph has been signed by Munson in bold blue marker on the bottom right corner of this photo with the inscription “To Steve Best Wishes”. This boldly signed Munson autograph comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AC04022).
